Level 3 Licensing of Animal Activities Inspector Course

The Licensing of Activities Involving Animals Regulations (AAL) require officers carrying out inspections of animal establishments, including dog day care, home boarding, kennels, catteries, dog breeder and petshops, to be appropriately qualified.

The City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate Inspecting Licensable Activities Involving Animals has been specifically developed by animal licensing officers and education experts to address this new legal requirement and meets the requirement to be an Ofqual regulated level 3 qualification.

The course provides inspectors with the knowledge and skills to make accurate, legal and animal welfare focused decisions when carrying out the inspections on the full range of licensed activities.
The course is specifically for those working as licensing officers and comprises of online and ‘face to face’ training. These sessions are delivered by qualified, experienced inspectors from the City of London Corporation, and are held at the specialised facilities at Heathrow Animal Reception Centre. To date we have trained over 350 animal licensing officers.

The OFQUAL regulated City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate Inspecting Licensable Activities Involving Animals in only available through the National Pet College, the education provider for the Pet Industry Federation.

Assessment of the licensing course is through one multiple choice exam and reflective four essays.
