Level 2 Dog Grooming
The City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Dog Grooming Assistants (7863-02) is the first step to becoming a qualified Dog Groomer and available at all our Training Centres.
The course assessment comprises:
- One online, multiple choice exam
- Five practical tasks, including the bathing and drying of dogs, nail clipping and maintaining the working environment

This City & Guilds Level 2 dog grooming qualification is designed for learners beginning their career in dog grooming with little or no prior knowledge or experience.
Topics covered in the training include:
- preparing a dog for grooming
- recognising signs of ill health and understanding how this may affect the grooming process
- bathing and drying dogs with a range of coat types
- basic trimming requirements
This qualification is the pre-requisite for progression onto the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03). On successful completion of the Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistant (7863-02) qualification learners can progress their knowledge and skills further in this area to become a professional Dog Groomer and enrol onto the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03).
